The Polish Society for Behavioral Psychology
Invites to
6th International Scientific Symposium of the Polish Society for Behavioral Psychology

March 19-20, 2010
Jagiellonian University, Cracow
Assembly Hall of Collegium Novum

The objective of the symposium is to broaden our knowledge about the ways of explaining and modifying behavior. Our main theoretical perspective is behaviorism, however we believe that the best way of developing this paradigm is to confront it with another perspectives. Additional value of our symposium can be found in bringing together researchers and practitioners in order to promote knowledge exchange and experience sharing. The Symposium will contain plenary lectures and thematic sessions.

The plenary lectures will be given by: prof. William Baum, PhD, prof. Ewa Czerniawska, PhD, prof. Maria Kielar-Turska, PhD, prof. Krzysztof Krzyżewski, PhD, prof. Edward Nęcka, PhD, Agnieszka NiedĽwieńska, PhD, prof. Paweł Ostaszewski, PhD, prof. Wojciech Pisula, PhD, Romuald Polczyk, PhD, prof. Howard Rachlin, PhD and prof. Jan Strelau, PhD.

The thematic sessions will focus on following issues:
1. Environment shapes behavior - research reports
The aim of the session is to present the most current results in the area of behavioral research.
2. Effectiveness of behavioral therapy - research reports
The aim of the session is to present results of recent researches on the effectiveness of behavioral therapy
3. Applications of behavioral psychology - experiences, propositions, reflections
The aim of the session is to present multiple applications of behavioral psychology in the area of therapy, education and management
4. Explaining behavior differently – behavioral psychology versus other psychological conceptions
The aim of the session is to present specificity of describing and explaining of behavior from the perspective of behavioral psychology and confront it with another ways of describing and explaining the same behavior, especially from the viewpoint of cognitive and evolutionary psychology.
